‘Sound of Music’ trail to the “Do-Re-Mi” meadow in Werfen
Early summer to autumn, Werfen
Around 40 kilometres south of the city of Salzburg – surrounded by mighty mountains – lies the pretty village of Werfen with the medieval Hohenwerfen adventure castle. This forms the backdrop for the film scene in which Maria practices the song ‘Do-Re-Mi’ with the children.
The 1.4-kilometre ‘Sound of Music’ trail leads right to this filming location and can be hiked individually. There is also an audio tour for this easy hiking trail via a free smartphone app. The text is spoken by ‘film child Friedrich’ Nicholas Hammond. Ideally, you should combine a trip to Werfen with a visit to the mighty fortified castle. Travelling by train is easy.
