Advent

At Christmas time, Salzburg is transformed into a true winter wonderland. Winding alleyways, festively decorated squares and the scent of roasted almonds and mulled wine create a unique atmosphere. The famous Salzburg Christmas market in front of the cathedral, traditional handicrafts and atmospheric Advent concerts make the city of Mozart a special destination in the run-up to Christmas. Advent in Salzburg – romantic, contemplative and simply magical.

Advent in Salzburg: The romantic old town in winter

Everything is turning white and Advent is approaching: for many, this is the most wonderful time of the year. While some people wax up their skis and head off into the mountains, others look forward to the contemplative activities. From Eugendorf you have both options: The mountains are already beginning and with Salzburg you have a stronghold of Advent markets right on your doorstep.

One of the most beautiful Advent markets in the world
International rankings regularly place Salzburg’s Christmas market in the top 10, and the backdrop of the large squares around the cathedral really does create a unique atmosphere. The scent of mulled wine, punch and hot jacket potatoes wafts over the lights of the stalls and many a Christmas present has been bought here directly from regional producers.
