Soccer Golf in Salzburg

How about a “different” kind of soccer experience? Or another kind of sport completely? This clever mix of golf and soccer isn’t just for aspiring World Cup heroes, but also for everyone who simply wants to have fun. Never heard of soccer golf before? In that case, now’s the perfect time to do something about that.

The name says it all

At first glance, you think you have a golf course in front of you. Fairways as much as 175 m long, tees, bunkers, flags, manicured grass. At second glance, the differences become apparent: tree trunks either standing upright or lying flat, baskets to catch the balls, fairways going around corners, pipes. Soccer golf is played with a football, your feet and, ideally, a group of friends. At the beginning of each “hole”, there is a brief overview showing you the hazards you will have to negotiate. At that point, you will be ready to take your tee shot. If you are ambitious, your goal will be to complete the 18 holes under par 72.

Soccer-golf championships? Of course!

The home of football is England. But the home of soccer golf is Scandinavia. There, they have already been playing this sport for 15 years. The Soccer Park in Wals is the only one of its kind in Austria. Today, they actually hold European championships and world championships in soccer golf. The sport is constantly growing in popularity. Not least because it combines the positive aspects of soccer and golf at a moderate price and with no special gear required.

Travel to soccer golf made easy

Arriving by car, take the West Autobahn to Salzburg and exit at Klessheim. Drive through the roundabout and past the Red Bull Arena, making a right at the next roundabout (Mielestraße), continuing (on Ferdinand-Porschestraße) to Doktorstraße. Now take this road to the soccer park, which is located on Oberaustraße. Travel time: 20 minutes.

The course is open in dry weather from May to November, always until sunset. Please note that a round takes roughly 2 hours, so you should begin well ahead of dusk. Precise opening times can be found on the website of the Soccerpark (only in german). Try your “hand” at soccer golf and put your skills to the test. In Eugendorf, you will also find the perfect place to stay – we will be happy to answer your non-binding request.
